Aloha Agency Partners,
On October 17, 2022, we had a very special visitor at our office. Mr. Keisuke Niiro, the president of DTRIC’s parent company Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance (ADI) visited DTRIC for the first time since becoming president in April 2022. He presented the corporate mid-term strategic direction to DTRIC team members. He spoke about technology and data analytics, including telematics, which have been proven successful with other ADI subsidiaries around the globe. Mr. Niiro expects DTRIC to create new values for our customers utilizing technology, thereby evolving into a unique technology-driven insurance company, leveraging the experience of other ADI companies.
At DTRIC, we have already embarked on the first phase of this journey with the implementation of a new core system. I am pleased to say that as of now, this project is still on schedule. We look forward to introducing to you in Q1 of 2023, our newly implemented system for Personal Lines with enhanced functionalities and new products.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership with DTRIC.
Takuya “Taku” Mitsueda
President & CEO

ADI President Mr. Keisuke Niiro showed the executive team the yarouze hand sign, which means “let’s do it together” in Japanese.
Mahalo to Our 30 Year Customers
As we close out our 30th-anniversary celebration, we have been recognizing our customers who have been with us since we started in 1992. Earlier this year, we held special presentations on Hawaii Island and Kauai, as well as in Honolulu, where honorees were
presented with commemorative plaques and limited-edition 30th-anniversary t-shirts.
We held one last presentation in October to the Rudolfo Family. Lawrence and Lynette Rudolfo started their auto insurance with us in October 1992 and in February 2007, their son Lowen also became a DTRIC customer. Lowen and their agent Ted Imamoto from Brown and Brown Insurance were on hand for the special presentation.

2022 Drive Aloha Champions
In recognition of the community’s efforts to keep Hawaii’s roadways safe and friendly for all users, DTRIC Insurance recognized the recipients of its second annual Drive Aloha Champions awards in October.
Drive Aloha Champions were awarded to:
Community Champion – August Ahrens Elementary School
As the largest elementary school in Hawaii with nearly 1,300 students, this school has taken several major steps to keep their student safe while walking to and from campus. To combat near misses with cars as students are dropped off or picked up from campus, school officials worked with the city to restrict parking in front of the school during school hours. Other traffic enhancements include adding a designated lane along Mahoe Street for school-related traffic only, and a right-turn only rule for motorists exiting the school. While the safety improvements were a team effort by the school, much credit goes to the leadership of Byron Montibon, head of school security and the school’s Junior Police Officer (JPO) team, and other school administration officials for these cost-effective safety measures.

Dennis Rae
Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer
Educator Champion – Rosa Stone, Lihikai Elementary School
As Lihikai Elementary School’s Junior Police Officer (JPO) advisor for more than 16 years, Stone oversees the school’s squad and has been instrumental in protecting the keiki that commute to and from campus. Due to crashes and near-misses in front of the school, she led an initiative to film traffic safety videos for the students on how to safely enter school and use the crosswalk. Stone also conducts weekend JPO training on team building and safety with students from her campus and other Maui schools, including Kahului, Pomaikai, Waihee, and Maui Waena Elementary well as Saint Anthony’s. Additionally, she has worked with DTRIC Insurance, the Maui Police Department, and Baldwin High School on various safety programs.

Kudos From A Customer
We occasionally must decline coverage for losses not covered by an insured’s policy. In those cases, we always do our best to explain in writing why we cannot extend coverage.
Recently, Senior Claims Examiner Jim Warneck had a denial case on hand that had no coverage under the policy. The case involves an unfortunate incident where the shipment of goods was damaged during the delivery. Jim went above and beyond to contact the other parties involved to give them an assessment of the damages noted. In the process of doing so, he obtained some information that the insured could use to seek recovery from other parties for their loss.
The insured’s agent noted the extra effort in an email to Jim: “Thank you for your efforts. We always appreciate how DTRIC goes the extra mile for our insureds, even when a claim isn’t covered.”
At DTRIC, we pride ourselves in the level of service we provide to our agency partners and insureds. If we ever fall short of your service expectations, please let us know so we may continually improve how we serve you and your clients. Mahalo!

Vice President and Chief Claims Officer
