Think you’re a safe driver? Join the Drive Aloha Challenge to find out and get a chance to win $1,000!
Sponsored by DTRIC Insurance, the Drive Aloha Challenge is a friendly competition that uses a smartphone-based app called Visual Drive that scores drivers on five behaviors associated with safer driving. Drivers from across the islands are invited to compete for a chance to win $1,000 by downloading the app and practicing safe driving on Hawaii’s roadways.

Eligibility
- The Drive Aloha Challenge is open to Hawaii residents with a valid driver’s license and who are 18 years and older at the time of entry.
- Entrant must log a minimum of fourteen (14) driving trips and a minimum of fourteen (14) total miles during the contest period using Visual Drive.
- The driver with the highest score on the leaderboard at the end of the contest will win $1,000.

The Drive Aloha Challenge runs from August 1 through August 14, 2024. The driver with the top score on the Leaderboard will be selected to win $1,000 at 11:59 pm on August 14, 2024! The winner will be announced at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 16, 2024.

About the Visual Drive App
The Drive Aloha Challenge uses the Visual Drive app, which provides feedback to drivers on five metrics for each trip taken:
- Rapid acceleration (sudden shifts to high speeds from lower speeds)
- Harsh braking (brake-slamming and the sudden, drastic reduction in speed)
- Hard Cornering (speeding while driving around corners)
- At-risk speeding (driving a certain threshold over the posted speed limit)
- Phone distraction (having your cellphone in-hand with the screen on while driving)
Visual Drive tracks trips while in the background on the driver’s phone. Users receive a score after completing each trip. They also see how they measured in each metric and get tips to improve their rating.
How to Register for Visual Drive
To register, all you have to do is to download the app and follow the prompts to set up your account. You’ll need to register your username/handle, phone number, email address, and use User Group 586893.
Here is how to sign up:
Use your user handle (i.e. SafeDriver, HelloKitty, etc.) for items 1, 2 and 3 below. Input your email address and phone number so we can contact you if you are the winner.

Reminders
- Leave “Location Service” on at all times.
- During the contest period if the contestant will be a passenger in a vehicle, please turn off the Location Service before the trip to prevent Visual Drive from scoring the trip.
- “Always” allow Visual Drive to access Location.
- Leave Bluetooth on.
